Mold grows on its own schedule, not yours. Call Breffni Remediation any hour and we'll connect you with an independent, licensed and insured remediation pro in USA who sets up containment, removes the contamination, and tracks down the leak or humidity feeding it.
Calls are answered around the clock, weekends and holidays included.
Breffni Remediation is a free referral service. We don't send our own crews; we connect you with independent, licensed and insured mold remediation contractors who already work in USA. That matters because mold jobs go wrong in predictable ways: someone sprays bleach on drywall, skips containment, and leaves the moisture problem untouched. We look for pros who do the opposite.
USA covers a lot of ground, and mold problems look different from one region to the next. Low-lying areas deal with storm flooding and wet basements, humid regions fight constant condensation, and older towns see more slow leaks in aging plumbing and roofs. Our network is built from local contractors so the person who shows up understands the conditions where you live.
The dispatch desk runs 24 hours a day. Mold itself is rarely a midnight emergency, but the water event behind it often is, and a burst supply line at 2 a.m. can turn into a mold job within 48 to 72 hours if nobody dries it out. When you call, a real person asks the right questions and gets the right kind of specialist moving.
Nothing about the referral locks you in. The independent contractor walks the property, shows you the moisture readings and affected areas, and puts a scope and price in writing. You decide whether to move forward, and calling us is free either way.
Plenty of mold problems hide inside walls, under flooring, and above ceilings. These are the signs that usually come before a remediation call.
The EPA's general rule of thumb is that areas larger than about 10 square feet, or mold inside heating and cooling systems, call for professional help. If you can't tell the size because the growth is behind drywall, assume it's bigger than it looks and call.
These are the services independent contractors in our network perform most often. Each one starts with an inspection and moisture assessment, and each should end with a dry, clean, verified space.
The size of the job changes, but the sequence doesn't: locate the moisture, isolate the space, remove damaged material, clean and dry the rest, then confirm the area passed.
When a leak or flood has left materials wet for a day or more, or when you've opened a wall and found active growth spreading, speed matters. The contractor stops the water source, sets up 6-mil poly containment, runs HEPA air scrubbers under negative pressure, and starts drying before the colony spreads further.
Homes get mold where water lingers: basements, crawl spaces, attics, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and the wall behind a slow-dripping dishwasher. A residential remediation pro removes contaminated drywall, insulation, and carpet pad that can't be saved, HEPA-vacuums and damp-wipes framing, treats surfaces with an EPA-registered antimicrobial, and dries everything to target moisture levels.
For a business, downtime costs money and occupants have questions. Commercial remediation contractors plan containment so the rest of the building stays open, coordinate with facilities staff on HVAC shutdowns, and keep logs, photos, and clearance results on file for owners, tenants, and adjusters.
Before anyone tears out drywall, it helps to know how far the problem goes. Inspectors use moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, and hygrometers to trace wet materials, and when testing makes sense they collect air samples with an outdoor control or surface tape-lifts for an accredited lab to analyze.
Attics grow mold on roof sheathing when bathroom fans vent into the attic or soffit vents are blocked. Crawl spaces grow it on joists when there's no vapor barrier. Basements grow it where groundwater seeps through the slab. Each space needs a different fix, from rerouted exhaust ducts to crawl space encapsulation and sump work.
A remediation job isn't done when the plastic comes down. Clearance, or post-remediation verification, confirms that the work area is visibly clean, dry, and back to normal air quality. Many owners hire an independent inspector for this step so the company doing the removal isn't grading its own work.
You make one call. From there, a typical job runs like this.
Tell us what you're seeing, where it is, and whether there's been a recent leak or flood. We'll ask a few quick questions and connect you with an available independent contractor near you.
On site, the pro maps wet materials, checks humidity, looks behind obvious stains, and explains whether air or surface sampling would actually change the plan.
You get the plan in writing: what comes out, what gets cleaned, how containment is set up, how long drying should take, and what it costs. Nothing starts until you approve it.
Work areas are sealed with poly sheeting and kept under negative pressure with HEPA air scrubbers. Damaged porous materials are bagged and removed, and remaining surfaces are HEPA-vacuumed, cleaned, and treated.
The last stage is drying to target readings, a clearance check, and a short list of prevention steps, from fixing a fan duct to adding a dehumidifier.
You could scroll through search results and hope for the best. Or you can make one call and get matched with a pro chosen for this exact kind of work.
You see the price before the plastic goes up. Quotes are written and itemized, and any change in scope gets discussed with you first.
Calls are answered around the clock. Local pros mean shorter drive times, and urgent water-related jobs move to the front of the line.
Contractors near you know the local building stock, from slab homes that flood at the door to older houses with uninsulated crawl spaces, and they know the humidity patterns that feed mold where you live.
Contractors in our network carry their own licensing where required and their own liability insurance. Ask for proof before work starts; good contractors hand it over without hesitation.
Proper remediation means isolating the area, filtering the air, physically removing growth, and fixing the moisture. That's the standard we look for in the pros we refer.
We stand behind the referral experience: friendly help, honest routing, and another option if the first match doesn't work out. Warranties on the work itself come from the independent contractor, so ask about theirs.
Every week of hidden moisture makes the job bigger and more expensive. Call now and we'll connect you with an independent, licensed and insured pro who can assess it properly.
Speak to Dispatch: +1-844-326-4757A few recent customers shared how their mold jobs went from first call to final walkthrough.
Found black spotting behind our washer after a slow drain leak. The dispatcher had someone out the next morning, and the contractor showed me moisture readings on the wall before quoting anything. Containment went up, the bad drywall came out, and the laundry room finally smells normal.
I manage a 24-unit building and had a tenant complaint about a bathroom ceiling. The contractor they connected me with worked around the tenants, sent photos every day, and gave me a clearance report for the owner's file.
Our home inspector flagged mold on the attic sheathing two weeks before closing. I called late on a Sunday and had a contractor in the attic by Tuesday. Turned out the bathroom fan was venting straight into the attic. They cleaned the decking and rerouted the duct outside.
Our basement took on water during a storm and we thought a shop vac and fans would do it. A week later the drywall had a fuzzy line about a foot up. The pro cut it out above the wick line, treated the studs, and left a dehumidifier running until the readings were dry.
We run a small restaurant and found mold above the drop ceiling near the dish station. The crew worked overnight so we never had to close, and the written scope matched the final bill.
The quote was clear and the price didn't change, which I appreciated. They found the crawl space had no vapor barrier at all, pulled the moldy insulation, cleaned the joists, and put down a sealed liner.
Short, honest answers to the questions we hear every day.
Most callers across USA get a visit within a day or two, often sooner in metro areas. If water is still coming in, say so on the call so the job is treated as urgent.
Yes. The independent contractor gives you a written quote after inspecting the property, before any work begins. Mold jobs vary too much for an honest flat price over the phone, so be wary of anyone quoting sight unseen.
The call line is staffed 24/7. Emergency help typically includes stopping active water, extracting standing water, setting up containment and HEPA filtration, and starting structural drying so mold doesn't spread.
No. Breffni Remediation is a free referral service. We connect you with independent, licensed and insured local contractors who perform and stand behind their own work.
Cost depends on square footage, location in the home, how much material has to be removed, and how much containment is needed. A bathroom spot and a full crawl space are very different jobs, which is why the written quote comes after the inspection.
Not always. If mold is visible and the source is known, testing often adds cost without changing the plan. Testing is useful when you smell mold but can't find it, when there are health concerns, or when you need documentation for a sale or a landlord.
Bleach can whiten mold on hard, non-porous surfaces, but it doesn't penetrate drywall or wood, and the water in it can feed regrowth. For anything beyond a small surface patch, removal and moisture control work better than chemicals.
It depends on the cause and your policy. Sudden water damage is more likely to be covered than slow, ongoing leaks. Ask your contractor for photos, readings, and a written scope to support any claim.
In many cases, yes, because containment and negative air keep spores inside the work area. People with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems may want to stay elsewhere during larger jobs; ask your doctor if you're unsure.
We route calls from cities, suburbs, and rural communities across USA. In less populated areas the drive may be longer, but coverage is broad and growing.
From the biggest cities to small towns, callers across USA reach the same 24/7 line. We connect you with a licensed and insured independent pro who works where you live.
Mold triggers change from region to region. Flood-prone valleys see more storm water damage, humid areas fight condensation all summer, and colder areas see attic frost and frozen-pipe leaks in winter. The contractor you're matched with knows the local version of the problem.
